Sitcom Characters Who Attend Concerts Of Their Favorite Bands

Friday, September 8th, 2017

Season 29 of The Simpsons is set to begin next month, extending an already unbelievable run for the animated sitcom about a modern nuclear family. Homer and his family have created a lot of comedy over three decades, especially poking fun at issues ranging from politics to sports to technology to religion.

One of the best characteristics of the show, however, has been its musical connection. Most of the biggest stars in rock history have made appearances on the show, including three of the four members of The Beatles.

One of the bands who accompanied the Fab Four as part of the first British Invasion was involved in one of the most memorable episodes of The Simpsons. In “A Tale of Two Springfields” members of the Who helped bring peace between the town’s citizens when they played a concert in Springfield.

Many other acts made similar appearances, especially on the show when Homer attends rock and roll fantasy camp. He meets Mick Jagger of the Rolling Stones, Elvis Costello, Sting, and several other stars before the weekend camp ends.

Bands such as REM, the Smashing Pumpkins, U2, Greenday, the White Stripes and the Red Hot Chili Peppers have all made it into different episodes, making the series worthy of induction to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland. After all, the show has already been given its own exhibition in the Baseball Hall in Cooprstown because of its inclusion of famous baseball players, so a similar honor should be bestowed in the Hall in northern Ohio.

Although none has come even close to having as many bands featured in its episodes, several other sitcoms have included rock bands in particular shows. In most cases the group is placed in the show because of a concert the regular characters are wanting to attend.

Here are six sitcoms in which a character desires to see a group in concert.

King of Queens

Danny and Spence sneak their way in to see Huey Lewis and the News, hoping to hear classic hits like “I Want a New Drug” and “The Heart of Rock and Roll.”

Full House

The Tanners travel to see the Beach Boys, and Jesse even gets to jam with them on stage. Decades later, in real life, John Stamos actually did play a concert with the band.

American Dad

Stan crashes a concert of Jim James and his band My Morning Jacket in an episode cleverly entitled “My Morning Straitjacket.”

Phoebe finds out that her son Ben is in the same class the son of the lead singer of the Police, Sting. She uses the pretext of discussing their sons’ teacher in an effort to acquire concert tickets for Sting’s upcoming show.

What’s Happening

Roger gets two tickets to a Stevie Wonder concert, but he cannot decide which of his friends to take with him in an episode called “The Tickets.”

The Middle

Justin Bieber is coming to town and Frankie helps Sue get tickets, but poor Brick is too embarrassed to attend.

If One Is in The Wrong Body, Are We Also Born in The Wrong Place?

Friday, September 8th, 2017

There is such an issue with transvestites and homosexuals in some places that one must ask why? Surely it does not take much to understand that when we are carried over from one life to the next that we may also become the opposite sex. As this happened to me I can verify that everyone has reincarnated, according to the bible. It stands to reason, therefore, that we must be in the right bodies or we would be also in the wrong place.

Few would complain about where they are born or live, and yet many are now trying to change their sex because they feel they are in the wrong bodies. We are born and die according to the will of the Great Spirit of the Universe, which is in control of all things. It has the time and place of our birth and death in accordance with its plan.

Those who were one gender in their previous life and feel the difference in their new situation can come to terms with it by realising that we have no control over who we are, where we are, and how we feel. If we did then people would take the option to live forever, because that is what they see as their future.

The confusion is with the fault of religions which outlawed reincarnation as a possibility because of their need for followers to believe in heaven and hell. This is their power base and the means by which they control them. By threats of hell for non-believers they have gotten away with murder over the centuries.

While claiming to speak and act for and on behalf of God what they have done is turn people away from the Spirit. This is to the detriment of those who are spiritual by nature and are searching for the truth. It is time, therefore, to denounce the fraud and allow for people of whatever sexual preference they have to get on with their lives in peace.

We are not born into the wrong bodies, just as we are not born in the wrong place. We are where we are meant to be and who and what we are is part of it.
